Pochop Family History

Page last modified 5 years ago

In 1898, Fred Vap asked family back in Dolni Loucky, Moravia to help him find a bride. His cousin Hynek Malon found him a wonderful girl named Frances Pochop. She immigrated to the US at age 19 aboard the Kaiser Wilhelm in April 1898 and arrived at Fred's parent's in Ponca City, Oklahoma. They were married there in May 1898 and came back to Rawlins County.

In May 1899, Frances' brother Rudolph Pochop immigrated to Rawlins County aboard the ship Trave. He lived with Fred & Frances Vap for a few years. Then in November 1901, the remainder of the Pochop family arrived in Rawlins County, immigrating on the ship Konigin Luise. Arriving in 1901 were siblings Mary (future Mrs. Joseph Kopriva), Amalie (future Mrs. John Prochazka), Peter (later married Rosina Jesch), Joseph (with wife Mary, daughters Mary & Cledy), and the family's mother Anna (nee Chyba) Pochop.
