Agan Line
We haven't been able to trace our Agan line any farther than Oneida County, NY (Agan could've also been spelled Akin, Egan, etc). They appear to be poor Irish settlers and very little records have been found. We think the father of Edgar Agan was Andrew Agan (abt 1814- abt 1849). Edgar's mother Almira is found with 3 children living in Oneida County NY with her father Alva Granger (1799-abt 1878) and mother Elizabeth <last name unknown> (1800-1859). Almira's son Edgar J. Agan (1843 - 1921) was the 2nd child. He married Sarah Kingsbury Brooks (1841-1915), a local widow (her 1st husband was killed in the Civil War). She had 1 child - Herbert Brooks. In the early 1870s, Sarah's sister & brother-in-law (Julian & Charlotte Ufford) moved to Decatur County KS with other Ufford family members from NY. Sarah's 1st son Herbert Brooks also moved to Decatur County KS in the 1870s. Sarah then moved to Kansas with her & Edgar's 2 children in 1879 to be near her son Herbert Brooks. Edgar joined her in 1880 after selling his mercantile store. They settled in Rawlins Co KS east of Achilles. Edgar & Sarah's 2 children were twins Leo Bruce Agan and Lena Grace Agan. Leo met/married Maggie Crooks in Rawlins County KS.
